Community members of all ages decorated 4" bisque tiles with underglaze pencils, at a festival held by the Takoma Park-Silver Spring Co-op. They were covered with a clear glaze, fired and prepared for hanging outdoors at the Co-op. The project was made possible by AFTP and the TPSS Co-op.


Art For The People organized an extensive show of local painters of Ethiopian heritge in partnership with the Takoma Park Community Action Group and the Takoma Park Arts & Humanities Commission.

In December, 2009, Art For The People produced a show of accomplished Russian artists living in the aree, at the Takoma Park Community Center Atrium Gallery.



In the fall of 2008, Art For The People embarked on the adventure of community created mosaic with The Takoma Mosaic Project. In collaboration with local artists Laurie Stepp and Arturo Ho, and with the advice of the American Visionary Art Museum, Art For The People produced 500 square feet of glittering mosaic on a library exterior wall that energized and pleased a wide community. The project was funded by the Takoma Foundation and the City of Takoma Park.
